BREAKING NEWS DEPARTMENT

According to Bill Boichel of Copacetic Comics, this new comic – Archie 1 The Dawn of Time – is the first time he has ever seen Harry Lucey credited by Archie Comics. I think he may be correct. Even the 60’s collection published recently did not credit Lucey (See Bill’s listing of the collection at his store’s site for details). Could Archie Comics be waking up to the fact that there has been some sort of outcry about this?

Things that make you go “hmmm”.

Hilariously I can’t find any solicitation info for this book. Where/When/etc? Bill, help a brother out!

I have seen Lucey credited in the past. Probably some of his very last work printed, I think it was a late 1970s issue of Everything’s Archie.

    • Well, until I see it I’m still skeptical but don’t totally doubt it. I told Bill and he said “until they put out a Harry Lucey collection, labeled ‘Harry Lucey Archie collection’ I will not stop complaining about it, haha”
      ‘Nuff said

  3. I’m a huge Harry Lucey fan, and he was absolutely credited at the very end of his Archie run (in the single issues) mid to late 70’s. Can send a scan if you’d like to see.
Unfortunately growing up loving Harry Lucey’s work or as I knew him ‘the good Archie artist” I never knew his name. It was until I was in my mid-30’s that a fellow fan tracked it down for me in the credits (he’s got every Archie comic made, and more importantly properly sorted unlike my collection).
What really made Lucey’s artwork sing in my opinion was the goregous and confident bursh work of inker Terry Szenic! She was amazing and there appears to be little written about her out there. The two of them working together is one of my favorite comic book dream teams.
