Xaime’s faves

Since it’s saturday and nothing is going on across the internets, I thought I’d link to this:

Jaime Hernandez’s favorite Criterion Collection films.

Maybe this is old news, but it’s new to me.  Love his one line descriptions for each film on the list.

Here I am interested in the idea, and the link is dead.

I love how Criterion gets comic artists to do their DVD covers sometimes. The one Hernandez did, Pietro Germi’s Divorce Italian Style, is excellent (and an awesome flick, to boot.) Here’s some more info about it: http://ericskillman.blogspot.com/2007/04/divorce-italian-style.html

  3. The link isn’t dead when I click on it…

The link is working now, thanks.

I’d also like to add that these films are extremely Love And Rockets appropriate: character driven, somewhat exotic and melodramatic, but not really pushing any boundaries (as compared to the more esoteric Criterion releases, I mean). I wonder what Gilberto’s top ten Criterions would be?
