Again with the New Comics Comics

So Dan got back from wherever he goes at this time of the year and has informed me that I kind of jumped the gun when I re-posted the Comics Comics issue 2 information. Most stores apparently won’t be receiving their copies until February or a little later. (I saw a big stack of Number 2’s at Big Brain in Minneapolis, a really excellent comic shop, and, uh, overinterpreted.)
A few stores do have early issues, such as Big Brain and Brooklyn’s beloved Rocketship, but if you can’t get to one of those stores and/or can’t wait until next month, we’ve added a button to the sidebar here, and we can send you a copy.

Anyway, it really is a great store. Jon Lewis recommended it to me, and he was right. If I lived in Minneapolis I’d go there all the time.

but I just now remembered that you are married to Lauren Weinstein. and I did meet bolth of you ar Mark Newgarden’s house at a BBQ, when i was interning for him in 2004. so hello again.
yeah! I still have your mini-comics, I really like the brown paper folder thing you have for one, and I show ’em to my students all the time!
I got this in the mail yesterday from the Catastrophe shop. There was stuff I really liked, like the piece on color separations and Matt Thurber’s strip, but I thought the new size made it hard to read, and was really disappointed in Peter Bagge’s article.
The Bagge article was something that I would never expect to exist, but when I heard about it, was really excited, because I expected insight. But it ended up being the same kind of snotty thing that so’s easily anticipated so as to seem pointless. Any points of interest that come up, like Bagge putting in bits of his life into the comic, aren’t really addressed. Thing that were interesting in the Bagge Spider-Man comic, like the Steve Ditko dedication, aren’t addressed at all, although it comes up that Bagge hates the way Ditko draws.
I imagine Bagge asking to write the article, you approving it, and not thinking to ask “wait, it’s not just going to be jokes about spider-man’s costume looking gay, right?” because him asking to write the article implies that he has something more to say.
I also expected Mark Newgarden on Michael Kupperman to be really thoughtful and not just kind of wacky, but I’m not disappointed there because I think what was actually written was fairly appropriate.
