Been prepping for the New York Art Book Fair all week and it opened last night. So, this is to say: No damn post this week. However, if you care about heta-uma, King Terry (more Terry stuff than has ever been in North America at one time), psychedelic posters, Karl Wirsum, Moebius and other awesome things, you owe it to yourself (more or less) to come see the PictureBox 300 sq. ft. room at PS1/MoMA. Specially designed, fully immersion. 2nd floor, room 203. It’ll blow your mind. Pix here.
Labels: Karl Wirsum, king terry, shameless promotion
Thanks for the pics! Fantastic looking exhibit.
I went, and my mind was blown.
those wirsum things look like some of the ‘sexual deviant’ earlier nutt stuff….. people gagged, struggling and chopped. is this a heavy trend? fits nice next to the terry-cock towels.
Ah hah, that’s because the spread you’re looking at IS by Jim Nutt, not Wirsum. The display there is both sides of the comic book Hairy Who/Smoke Hairy Who (1968), with an open spread.
Are there any plans afoot to reprint the Hairy Who comic book?
Man, a book of all those Hairy Who comics would be very nice.
I was just thinking the same thing…
