Comics Comics Correspondent Paul Karasik wrote in to note that he has discovered a startling relationship between one Biblical family, one group of knuckleheads, and a certain cartoonist. Watch this space for more revelations.

Crumb's Noah looks very, very dimly like Ted Healy.
Yeah, R. Fiore noticed the same thing. As he commented in The Comics Journal message board: "The only thing I can see that smacks of send-up is modeling Noah’s sons on the Three Stooges (with Shemp)."

I think Crumb might have been influenced by the fact that Shem sounds like Shemp.
I thought of the Stooges too when I first read the book but didn't pursue the parallel in my review.
I noticed this right away the day I got the book. Noah = Curley;
Ham = Moe; Shem = Shemp; Japeth = Larry.
Glad someone else picked up on it!
