We’re going crazy with the talking about comics lately, and Dan steps up to the plate for the latest in our recent series of interviews. Here he is on Inkstuds, in discussion with two of the best comics thinkers around, Jeet Heer and Tom Spurgeon. I probably won’t get a chance to listen to this until this weekend, but there’s nothing stopping you from taking the plunge now.
UPDATE: I was able to listen to it after all, and there’s a lot of good talk in there. Well worth checking out.
UPDATE II: Oh, but Dan: Omega the Unknown? Really? Obviously I like that comic a lot, but if you only get to pick one book …

ghostly scream at 38 minutes 28 seconds
Well jeez…I dunno. I couldn’t think of anything else! Nothing came to mind except my own books and Omega. Weird, I know. But it actually is kinda what I’m most excited about right now. Something like… it just does what I think, as a kid, I always wanted Vertigo comics to do. It’s actually a sophisticated mainstream superhero comic. Not fake in anyway. Just fucking good. That excites me. You’re a meany, Tim! I’m gonna tell Spurgeon that you’re being mean!
Oh and that ghostly scream was my dog, Mister Fatty Pants. He was in the office and he hates comics.
Omega #4 was ….okay. Marvel Zombies2 #3 was the best of the stack this week!
Yeah exactly, Frank. When books like Marvel Zombies are coming out, why would you pick something as pedestrian as Omega?
(Actually, I’ve never read MZ. And if it was anyone but you, Frank, I’d assume you were joking — but do you really like it?)
Yeah, it was entertaining. The artwork is really amazing. Seriously. Omega was great, don’t get me wrong. That bit with the eagle? Genius.
More cage matches guys!
Come on!!
Great dog name, Dan.
Why don’t all you people in convention-land think about booking Robin to host “Inkstuds” shows at the cons? Fly Robin in to the con and turn him loose. There’d be a great selection of guests and a great “captured” audience.
