Great interview!
I'm particularly interested in his response to the idea of an animated SP, with the idea that it's "not supposed to be about cartoon people". I think it makes a lot of sense when you consider the vintage of the interview and the tonal shift in SP5. In that capacity I think SP5 was a lot closer to Lost At Sea than the other Scott Pilgrims were. I'm also kind of interested in how he reconciles that idea with the forthcoming videogame.

mang: full of shit/aesthetically cross-eyed.

video games: RDR is the first game in years to soak up time like this, I need to quit it and get back to work.

I'd definitely read an O'Malley comic that took the 'airiness' you talk about and ran with it -- I'm almost imagining something like "Slacker" that just follows some people talking, which is really what he's best at, and if you pay attention to his webcomics, where he started. The videogame/manga thing is a skeleton, I think, that he throws his sense of humor onto. It's a little more crucial than an excuse to make weird puns, but it's a little beside the point.

It would be interesting if he stepped back from the entertainment he talks about focusing on in SP and went back to making slightly harder-to-like, harder-to-boing-boing-about work.
